The London School of Architecture (LSA) is an independent higher education provider based in London. It is England’s first independent school of architecture since 1847 and was conceived in 2011 as a school for the 21st-century, where students combine practice-based work experience with academic study as a means to tackle head-on the crisis in the funding of an architectural education.
A key mission of the LSA is to encourage and support wider diversity and access for students from under-represented backgrounds.
The programme has been commended for the ‘level of engagement with the profession in the design of a sustainable and innovative programme’ and ‘the sense of empowerment and independence that the students demonstrate’.
The school has gained considerable standing as a respected practice-focused school of architecture in less than a decade, and is now poised to expand its academic programmes over the next five years.
Job Description
The LSA is inviting applications for a Registrar & Operations Director to be part of the senior team that will lead the next phase of growth of our school.
The successful candidate is a highly organised and experienced senior administrator who will ensure the efficient and effective operational performance of the school. You will be a vital member of the leadership team of our progressive higher educational organisation, where your influence will have a marked effect.
You will lead the school’s operational running and manage the administrative team, reporting directly to the Head of School and Trustee Board about people, administration and facilities.
You will oversee all registration matters relating to the student journey, as well as play an integral part in the management of academic quality and standards, helping to maintain good relationships with our academic and professional regulators.
You should have significant experience working within higher education and have been closely involved with all operational aspects of an academic department or faculty. You will have also had previous leadership experience, mentoring and managing staff and liaising with academic staff.
You are currently a Registrar and/or Operations Manager in an academic institution. It is essential that you understand how the higher education frameworks operate and be sensitive to maintaining and managing affiliations to external bodies.
It is essential that you are a good communicator and have a great attention to detail.
The school is focused on sustainability, innovation and diversity and welcomes applications from administrative leaders and academic registrars for this unique opportunity to be part of an organisation that is changing the way that future architectural leaders are being educated.
