LSA graduate Robert Buss shortlisted for AJ Sustainability Award

Bricklayers’ Arms Consolidation Centre by Robert Buss.

LSA graduate Robert Buss’s final project, the Bricklayers’ Arms Consolidation Centre, has been shortlisted for the Architects’ Journal (AJ) Student Prize 2019: Sustainability Award.

Robert is part of the LSA’s third cohort (view every graduate’s work here) and joins eight others on the shortlist for the award, for which there were 37 submissions from RIBA-accredited architecture schools.

“The quality of the shortlisted entries belies any misconception that sustainable architecture equals ugly architecture,” says the AJ. “But what is most exciting about the submissions is that they contain the seeds of a new direction for architectural education. This is essential for the future relevance of architecture graduates in the face of planetary crisis.”

Robert’s project aims to make London safer, healthier and more sustainable through tackling inefficient and fragmented last-mile deliveries and waste in London. It removes polluting vehicles from the streets, enables a circular economy, decentralises power and water, safeguards public green space and builds for the future of a sustainable planet.
