Overview
Working closely with the Director and other members of the Executive Committee, the Assistant Director provides both strategic and operational support in the development of the institution and the delivery of the programme.
- Reports to Director
- Direct reports – none
- Commitment – four days per week, Monday–Thursday
- Based at London headquarters
- Salary – negotiable depending on experience
- Experience – a degree in architecture and experience in academic institution essential; designing/writing/editing skills ideal
- Attributes – innovative, entrepreneurial, proactive, responsible, intrepid, charming, enthusiastic, ambitious and self-motivated
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Director in the development of strategy and operational plans and reviewing the performance of the school
- Co-ordinate theme and speakers for the public lecture programme
- Develop, implement and manage the LSA Collaborators Network, which will include leading thinkers, academics, think tanks and creative practitioners
- Lead and manage a team of student editors for LSA publications, website content and social media, and seek new opportunities for LSA publishing initiatives
- Assist in the delivery of teaching and assessment for the Design Think Tank Project and Critical Practice Modules, and seek new opportunities for LSA design/research initiatives
- Be an effective ambassador for the LSA, representing the school positively and in the best interests of the institution at all times
- Effectively communicate and engage with LSA staff and stakeholders on all relevant matters, including the school’s direction, challenges and achievements
- Ensure that successful LSA initiatives are disseminated both within the school and externally
- Working with members of the Executive Committee, produce the annual monitoring documentation for London Met
- Participate in fundraising activities as appropriate
- Work closely with the school Operations Manager to ensure the effective day-to-day running of the school
