Betty Owoo, Quincy Haynes & Duncan Graham see their winning LFA benches realised

After being announced as winning entrants to the Royal Docks Team and London Festival of Architecture’s Pews and Perches competition, Betty Owoo, Quincy Haynes and Duncan Graham have seen their benches come to life in the city.

Entering as a pair, LSA Second Year Quincy and alumnus Betty’s bench, Water Water Everywhere, has been erected in Royal Victoria Gardens. Their design seeks to start a conversation about how we can inspire people to treat our waterways better and reuse objects that have been discarded in them. “We used these found objects and suspended them in resin where they seem to be floating in water. Our design also makes use of jesmonite, which gives the distinctive colourful strata that go from riverbed to watery surface,” said Betty and Quincy.

The Rocking Bench by LSA alumnus Duncan Graham in Thames Barrier Park. A bright and playful addition to the area, the Rocking Bench is, well, a rocking bench. It seeks to encourage interaction between friends, family, and strangers, whilst keeping users safely socially distanced.
