  • Design for Life? Fire safety and building resilience
6 weeks – Hybrid – Every Friday afternoon from Friday 12 January 2024 – £500We are, rightly, entering a new regulatory landscape that responds to the professional, moral and ethical imperative of all professionals in the building industry to equip themselves with the essential and latest fire, health and life safety knowledge. Design For Life? provides the context and tools needed to equip practitioners with not only the knowledge required to address new regulatory frameworks, for example the ARB and the RIBA’s new mandatory core competencies for health and life safety, but also the experience to apply this knowledge in practice.Learners will emerge better equipped to work with specialist consultants, will fulfil requirements for defined roles under the Building Safety Act (and secondary legislation), and to define marketable services to add greater value to clients.Find out more
  • Working with Heritage: Uniting built and social heritage through adaptive reuse
6 weeks – Hybrid – Every Friday afternoon from Friday 12 January 2024 – £750In an age where we must work increasingly with what we already have, there are significant and growing opportunities for practices to develop their business by engaging more closely with heritage and community-led projects. However, many simply haven’t had the chance to build up the knowledge and skills needed to understand the scope of this market and identify viable opportunities. Moreover, working on projects of this kind can be a vital stepping stone towards graduating onto public projects with more intensive procurement processes.Working with Heritage, a six-week course designed in collaboration with social-investors and heritage experts, the Architectural Heritage Fund, resolves that, demonstrating how working with the existing built fabric provides significant and tangible benefits to your practice, whilst protecting and nourishing diverse communities and local economies.Find out more
  • Inclusion in Practice: Building social value into how you win work
5 weeks – Online – Every Friday afternoon from Friday 19 April 2024 – £300Inclusion is at the heart of public procurement, with a vast range of processes existing to measure how outcomes benefit local communities and wider society. However, how these activities are weighted and assessed can sometimes feel opaque, thus making meaningful systemic or structural change in our industry appear elusive. This course provides practitioners with the expertise needed to understand and navigate the complexity of these frameworks, while offering the context and practical tools needed to truly address inclusion within practice.Inclusion in Practice demonstrates that – besides the fact that being inclusive is simply the right thing to do – a strategic approach to inclusion will drive far more innovative outcomes for our buildings, spaces and places, and far stronger business outcomes and financial results for your practice.Find out more
