Joshua Thomas

DTT Leader — Urban Agriculture

With over 6 years of professional experience, I have been involved in a broad range of ambitious mixed-use schemes in the UK, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany, working for practices including Jestico + Whiles, OMA, Coop Himmelb(l)au, Hawkins Brown and Studio Egret West. This has enabled me to approach complex projects with confidence whilst keeping sight of their overarching objectives. My involvement with projects across a wide range of scales, sectors and overlapping disciplines has also afforded me a great deal of flexibility in developing my professional skill set. Having experienced the delivery process on a number of large scale projects, I am able to apply this knowledge to inform upstream work.

I have enjoyed working in a collaborative environment with a holistic understanding of not only individual projects but also their relationship to the wider industry and socio-economic context. This has fuelled my passion for good place-making and design, always keeping in mind the people who will live and work in these spaces.

Prior to and alongside architectural practice I have taught on architecture courses at a number of universities including Oxford Brookes and the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. This has been a great vehicle to develop ideas from my personal studies and research alongside professional practice.
