Architectural Education as a Situated Practice | London Festival of Architecture

Architectural Education as a Situated Practice

As part of this year’s London Festival of Architecture and the London School of Architecture’s (LSA) Degree Summer Show, we are pleased to be hosting the event ‘Architectural Education as a Situated Practice’, which invites a range of guests to discuss the role of live projects and situated practice within architectural education.

The symposium will follow a collaboration with the LSA’s immediate neighbours in the Dalston Garden Estate to improve their community storage and Little Library as a service of ‘care and repair’ to the community whilst responding to this year’s LFA theme of Belonging.

Guest speakers:

  • David McEwan, Director of Unit 38
  • Fiona MacDonald, Co-Founder and Director at MATT+FIONA
  • Professor Lee Ivett, Head of School
  • Maria Wood, RIBA Silver Medal Commendation 2024 / Part II Architectural Assistant
  • Roy Coupland / Yang Yang Chen, LSA Part 0 Access & Outreach Leads
  • Takeshi Hayatsu, Founder and Director of Hayatsu Architects

We are keen to ensure the event is as collaborative and engaging as possible. We will begin with hearing from each guest, who will give a 5 minute presentation on the theme drawing from their unique perspective. We will then breakout into working groups before bringing everyone back together for a group discussion. We will end the afternoon with drinks and catching up with friends!
