Phone number — 07491515256
Tutors — Hannah Lawson & Maurizio Mucciola
Location — Kingsland Shopping Centre, London Borough of Hackney
Size — 10,000sqm
Objective —
Create a new model of shopping and spending time in Dalston’s urban centre through engagement in contemporary craft and making. Pair the local retail and production businesses with a large chain shop of Sainsbury’s to envision the future of physical retail, which will not only provide the product but also enrich with experience.
Motivation —
To reconnect people with the action of production in the inner city condition and use it as an opportunity to sustain the local retail economy and reimagine the future of physical commerce for small and large businesses. To give and share skills for both individuals and local workers as means to elevate their offering on the market.
Strategy —
Reimagining the outdated typology of the shopping centre to give space for shared specialised facilities for making and production. By intervening into the existing structure of the Kingsland Shopping Centre, create a space of exciting discoveries and social interaction.
