Alternative Routes To Registration: An Evening with ARB (17/11/2022)
On Thursday 17 November the ARB will engage with the LSA Practice Network to discuss proposed reforms to the standards required for architects to be registered.
Part of the ARB’s responsibility to our sector is to set the standards required of architectural professionals at the end of their initial education and training in order to register as an architect.
In October 2021 it published a discussion paper about plans to modernise these requirements by moving to an outcomes-based model of learning. Sector discussions are already taking place on initial ideas for a brand new system of education and training and a formal consultation is imminent.
On November 17, ARB will engage with the LSA Practice Network to understand the thoughts of the school’s network on these proposals, provide a sense of the timeline and to learn more about what practices might need from ARB to support a smooth transition. It will set out the evidence base for these proposals (including their extensive engagement and research process with the sector) and provide detail on the new ideas, which include:
- more diverse routes to registration
- a new set of outcome-based competencies
- new standards for learning providers
- new ways of measuring professional practical experience
The event will begin at 6.30pm at the LSA studio – 6 Orsman Road, Haggerston, London N1 5RA with a view to beginning the discussion no later than 7pm.
