LSA MANIFESTO SHORTLISTED FOR RIBA DISSERTATION MEDAL
Calin Barbu‘s Critical Practice Manifesto, Atlas Paddling, has been shortlisted for the RIBA Dissertation Medal, an award established in 1836 to recognise outstanding and accomplished work by students. The winner of the medal will be announced on 5 December at RIBA. Calin’s work was produced as part of his Year 1 Critical Practice Theory module, taught by Peter Buchanan and James Soane.
Atlas Paddling uses the structure of six poems in prose to meditate on cities, their fragility, and human adaptation as a rite of survival. Situated in a world affected by a warming climate, the stories – fictional or otherwise – meander through the possibilities of architecture as an expression of adaptation.
